The Addiction Research and Treatment (ART) Lab is directed by Dr. Wardle and is part of the Psychology Department at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC).

We are interested in learning more about the psychological processes that lead people to use drugs. We also work to develop treatments for individuals struggling with addictions.

Our team works with individuals in each study to collect data to learn about addiction and develop improved treatment options.

Much of our research focuses on addressing the emotions and thoughts that make it difficult for people to quit using drugs. Students in the lab are supported in exploring a variety of research questions related to substance use.
